Medjugorje Pilgrimage

with Fr. Shawn Roberson, TOR

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN Register Now

On June 25, 1981, in the small village of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Blessed Virgin Mary began appearing to six young teenagers on Mount Podbrdo, now known as Apparition Hill. Since that time, Our Lady has continued to appear and give messages of hope and a call for conversion in order to bring peace to the world. In response, over 40 million people have journeyed to Medjugorje to experience what many refer to as “Heaven on Earth”. Medjugorje is also known as the “confessional of the world” and has been the site of countless conversions and life-changing experiences.

The Vatican has issued a decree stating that a Plenary Indulgence will be granted under the usual conditions for those who travel on a Pilgrimage to the Church of St. James in Medjugorje, and devoutly participate in the Jubilee rites and / or pious prayers. This decree is valid until the conclusion of the Jubilee Year on Jan. 6, 2026.

Day 1 | Thursday, April 30: Medjugorje – Dubrovnik
After breakfast, you will transfer to Dubrovnik, also known as the Pearl of the Adriatic. Meet our local guide who will take us on a walking tour of the Old City. It will begin at St. Blaise Church, the Patron Saint of Dubrovnik. Continuing to the Gothic and Renaissance styled Rector’s Palace. Next, you will stroll by the iconic Bell Tower Clock and Orlando’s Column. To the left of this column, you will see the Sponza Palace. In the sixteenth century, members of the Academia dei Concordi met to discuss literature and to this day, the palace is the most important cultural institution of Dubrovnik. Lastly, you will visit the Dominican and Franciscan Monasteries. The location of the Dominican Monastery is strategically placed at the most sensitive point of Dubrovnik’s defense barriers. While at the Franciscan Monastery, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the first Pharmacies still in existence. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 2 | Friday, May 1: Dubrovnik
After Mass enjoy exploring timeless streets in Dubrovnik. No cars are allowed inside the wall city (deliveries are made during the night), stop at the market, or at one of many small family-owned shops and restaurants. You can buy a ticket to walk on top of the wall, from there you can watch one of the best preserved cities in the world, still occupied by 5,000 inhabitants. Enjoy a farewell dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 3 | Saturday, May 2: Dubrovnik – Return Home
After an early breakfast and heartfelt farewells, you will leave by motor coach for Dubrovnik Airport for your return flight(s) home.

Our lives can become very busy. That busyness can overwhelm us, and often times, we need to intentionally set aside time to quiet our hearts and turn our attention to God.

On a Catholic pilgrimage, you will not only experience a silence and atmosphere helpful for prayer, but you will travel in community, guided by spiritual leaders and supported by fellow pilgrims.

We invite you to join the Franciscan University community as we embark on a pilgrimage of faith!
