When baseball’s over but the sports drama keeps coming, Disney magic meets Austrian coffee breaks, and the Pope drops a love letter to the Sacred Heart—you know it’s time for another episode of They That Hope.
Father Dave and Deacon Bob return from their travels (Father Dave from Franciscan University’s Austrian study abroad site and Deacon Bob from Disney World) with colds, laughs, and plenty of stories. They celebrate the birth of Bob’s second grandson, recap the Dodgers’ World Series win, and share sports updates from the Cavs’ hot streak to Bronny James’ first NBA basket.
Movie talk ranges from Inside Out 2 and Usain Bolt documentaries to the upcoming Bonhoeffer film (and why Conclave should probably be on your “skip” list—yes, even if you love Church drama). But the heart of the episode is a first look at Pope Francis’ new encyclical Delixit (“He Loves Us”)—a heartfelt nudge to put the brakes on our overthinking and rediscover the heart in a world addicted to speed, intellect, and opinions.
There’s also some lively pre-election chatter, surprising stats about U.S. yogurt spending, and a gentle dare to slow down, pray, and maybe eat your yogurt without scrolling Instagram.

(03:33) Dodgers, Dogs, and a $4.4 Million Baseball
World Series recap: Dodgers win in five, Shohei’s dog steals the parade, and Freddie Freeman’s faith shines. Plus, a wild story about a Yankee fan, Mookie Betts, and a lifetime stadium ban.

(09:50) Movie Reviews: From Pixar to Bonhoeffer
Father Dave praises Inside Out 2 for its thoughtful take on emotions, and the guys look ahead to Bonhoeffer. A strong “do not recommend” for Conclave.
(20:44) Pope Francis’ Encyclical: “He Loves Us”
Introducing Delixit, the Pope’s heartfelt reflection on the Sacred Heart, the loss of devotion in modern culture, and why recovering the heart is essential for faith and humanity.

How over-intellectualism, busyness, and technology distract us from love. Why pondering in the heart (like Mary) changes how we live.

Prayer and fasting for the election, community events, and a reminder that hope is found in encountering the Heart of Jesus.
