For more than a century, Catholics around the world have welcomed the Advent season with a cherished Christian tradition: The Festival of Lessons and Carols.
This simple but profound service includes nine Scripture readings that trace God’s plan of salvation from the Fall to the birth of Christ, each followed by a prayer and a carol that reflects on the hope, longing, and joy of the coming Messiah.
And this year, Franciscan University is honored to share a performance of this tradition with you, your family, and your loved ones as a FREE gift. Our student choirs have prepared a beautiful Advent Lessons & Carols service so you can watch, listen, and pray along from wherever you are.
Through Scripture and song, you’re invited into a time of peace, reflection, and joyful anticipation as you prepare your heart for Christmas!
This special performance features the Schola Cantorum Franciscana, the Women’s Choir, and the Chapel Choir, all under the direction of Dr. Vincent E. Rone, professor of sacred music. In nine short videos, you’ll hear beloved pieces such as The First Nowell, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and Silent Night, powerfully woven together with the prophetic readings that reveal God’s unwavering love and his desire to draw us back to himself.
Whether you’re longing for a moment of stillness in a busy season or searching for a meaningful way to center your heart on Christ, this performance of Advent Lessons & Carols offers a beautiful way to enter into the mystery and hope of Advent.
And today, you can receive access to the FULL video performance completely free as a special gift from Franciscan University and our student ensembles!
We truly hope this service is a blessing to you. Simply use the secure form below to let us know where you’d like to receive it, and our team will email an access link to all nine videos, directly to your inbox.
