During a visit with faculty and students at Franciscan University of Steubenville’s Austrian Study Abroad Program, Father Dave interviews noted artist and art professor Carl G. Fougerousse. They discuss Carl’s road to becoming an artist, whether beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, the inherently creative aspect of human nature, and why artists must “step out of the way of God” in creating art. They also delved into how great Church art supports what happens in the liturgy, the power of art to speak truth to us, and why the Church—and everyone—needs art.
